I have lost count of how much blood work I have endured since 2019. I have been poked and prodded and it gets old. But today? Well today is an exciting day because with my most recent results, I can actually see the improvements in black and white.

Not only do I have to battle RA but years ago I was diagnosed with a fatty liver. I am not morbidly obese but menopausal years have not been good to me.  I have that extra around the middle. When you feel like mud, it is hard to exercise and it also hurts. Who wants to add to the pain? Not me for sure.

So though I have been happy with my work with my nutritionist, I was having to also battle my liver becoming toxic last year. My liver enzymes really starting climbing so I was referred to a gastroenterologist. (My husband says he can not keep up with all of my 'ologist!) I had a liver biopsy and have to follow with her every 6 months. I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, possibly as a result of methotrexate usage, possibly not. No one really knows. But because of that I was taken off the MTX last year. My enzymes continued to climb. I was also diagnosed with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. So basically I just had an ugly fatty liver that was angry. There are no medications to treat this. The diagnosis, left untreated to progress, can shorten your lifespan and result in cirrhosis of the liver. When I say my body is a walking time bomb I am not lying. Not fun at all. With my liver enzymes you would think I was a real alcoholic but I promise you I am not. Since alcohol causes inflammation, I have stayed away from it.

So I started researching again on ways to detox my liver. I discovered Castor Oil Packs. Now I will tell you that if you just go to the science medical side of research, you won't get good information. Why? Because Big Pharma does not get paid for this. However if you research holistic medicine, there are soooo many uses for castor oil and castor oil packs. The Packs can increase circulation, support healthy movement of the lymphatic system, calm IBS and other digestive issues, reduce swelling and inflammation, shrinks cysts, growths, and warts.  Castor Oil Packs can also shrink fibroids on the uterus, as well as ease pain associated with endometriosis. They can also be used externally for external injuries. I also used lemon essential oil and rosemary essential oil on my side on the nights I was not using the castor oil packs. Warning: Only use pure grade essential oils when using them for medicinal purposes.

How to use a castor oil pack:

  1. Apply a generous amount of Castor Oil to a flannel or wool cloth that’s big enough to cover the area you want to heal.

  2. Put a heat source like a warm water bottle or heating pad on the Castor Oil-soaked cloth on your body.

  3. Cover the area with a large towel to trap the heat and rest for 30-60 minutes.

  4. When you’re done, wipe the excess Castor Oil off your body and store the cloth in a resealable bag in the refrigerator so that it can be re-used.

  5. Repeat the treatment as often as possible (ideally, at least 3x per week, but more is better) for at least a month.

  6. Be careful not to get Castor Oil on your clothes, sheets, or furniture. It will stain.

I ordered everything that I have off of Amazon.

Here is my Amazon Associates Store:

I have been using the castor oil packs for about 2 months. Other than that I had not changed anything since my last labs in June of this year. I had recent lab work on 11/11/22 and the decrease in my liver enzymes was just short of amazing. I have reversed the fatty liver! I have an ultrasound scheduled next month and we will see if it worked to reduce the gallstones that I had, but I am sooo excited. I cannot wait to see my gastro next month and see her reaction.

Mutant?

Sometimes I feel like a mutant. I just wish I had the cool super powers of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or X-Men. Wouldn’t that be cool? Actually I am a mutant. RA is just one of the complicated diseases I have to deal with. Many years ago my absolute favorite doctor, Melinda Warren, went deeper and further than any other doctor in looking for the root cause of my fatigue and illness. She ran a DA profile. Honestly I was one of her first patients to have that done and my results were not something she had seen. So she couldn’t really tell me what it meant. My DA profile revealed that I was duplicate A1298C (homozygous) genes. I remember asking her what she meant and her response was “honestly I don’t know but I know you are a researcher so you will be on this fast”. So we learned together. This was something she was studying in her search for nutritional health for her patients. When she retired I lost a huge advocate for my health. No other doctor I have seen knows what this ...
"I am Blessed"   This morning I was in the shower getting ready for work and I thought "I'm blessed". Why you ask? Well let me tell you. I am blessed because I could shave my legs.  Yep, you read that right. Seems so simple, right? But 1 year ago I could not manage the task of shaving my legs AND taking a shower in one day. The fatigue was just too much. Prior to my diagnosis of RA I showered daily, sometimes twice a day, and shaved my legs daily. Even in the winter time! I just couldn't stand the feel of my legs on sheets at night without doing that. Battling with RA made me give it up to conserve energy. I just could not complete the two tasks together. Four years ago I would never have imagined a time in my life when those simple tasks nearly took everything out of me, JUST TO START MY DAY. Never mind that is just the start of the day and I still had a full day of my job, house, cooking, business and family to tend to. And the never ending pain. That alon...
W hat is RA? RA stands for rheumatoid arthritis. According to the Arthritis Foundation it is summarized as follows: " Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) causes joint inflammation and pain. It happens when the immune system doesn’t work properly and attacks the lining of the joints, called the synovium. The disease commonly affects the hands, knees or ankles, and usually the same joint on both sides of the body, such as both hands or both knees. But sometimes RA causes problems in other parts of the body as well, such as the eyes, heart and circulatory system and/or the lungs. For unknown reasons, more women than men get RA, and it usually develops in middle age. Having a family member with RA increases the odds of developing RA." https://www.arthritis.org/diseases/rheumatoid-arthritis No one, including researchers, knows what causes RA. The inflammatory responses in the body occurs when the immune system erroneously detects the body's own cells as foreign and reacts to it by rel...
